Spore.Bio is a deeptech start-up born in 2023, building a new paradigm in the quality control systems in Food&Beverage, Cosmetics, and Pharmaceutics factories.

After spending a lot of time in factories environments, we saw the pain it was to make sure products were safe. Traditional quality control has heavy constraints and long waiting times. To change that, we decided to build Spore.Bio, a new generation of microbiological testing.

Spore Bio is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to contribute to the deployment and adaptation of our computer vision models to real-world operational constraints. About the role

• Build a thorough understanding of the end-to-end data generation pipeline, from sample preparation to downstream processing.

• Contribute to deploying and adapting our computer vision models to meet field constraints and production requirements.

• Plan data acquisition hand in hand with microbiologists by understanding deeply and taking field constraints into account

• Train, validate, and benchmark machine learning models; perform detailed error analysis to guide improvements.

• Identify bottlenecks and propose enhancements to data workflows to accelerate model development.

• Work in a multi-disciplinary environment, collaborating with R&D engineers, product managers, and clients.

• Learn from experienced team members while bringing fresh perspectives and contributing your own ideas.

About you

Required qualifications/experience:

We value curiosity, initiative, and a growth mindset. Not every box needs to be ticked to apply.

• Education & Background: Master's degree (or final year) from a top engineering school or university in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

• Experience (academic or personal projects) in Computer Vision and/or Deep Learning

• 0-2 years of professional experience, with strong academic credentials and demonstrated project work

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency with PyTorch or similar deep learning frameworks

• Understanding of modern neural network architectures for vision tasks (e.g. CNNs, Vision Transformers, segmentation networks, object detection)

• Familiarity with data processing tools (e.g. pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)

• Strong coding fundamentals and clean code practices (Python, Git)

• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus

• Experience with MLOps tools or deployment pipelines is a plus

• Strong communication skills: you can clearly explain technical concepts and collaborate effectively
