Internship — Field Service Engineer in Optronics
About us
Spore.Bio is a deeptech start-up born in 2023, building a new paradigm in the quality control systems in Food&Beverage, Cosmetics, and Pharmaceutics factories.
After spending a lot of time in factories environments, we saw the pain it was to make sure products were safe. Traditional quality control has heavy constraints and long waiting times. To change that, we decided to build Spore.Bio, a new generation of microbiological testing.
Our team is dedicated to bringing technology and developing a cutting-edge solution, based on advanced optical and deep-learning technologies, to detect bacterial contamination within seconds.
Are you ready to revolutionize microbiology monitoring in factories? Spore Bio is seeking a Field Service Engineer to develop our cutting-edge data science solution. Join our dynamic team of R&D experts and product managers, and help us build the future of industrial microbiology.
Joining our team at this stage means being at the heart of something truly transformative: while the initial focus is on building a robust MVP, the trajectory ahead is filled with ambitious projects and evolving technical challenges that will shape the future of our company. This role is designed for someone eager not just to contribute, but to set the pace and leave an indelible mark on everything we build together – with the potential to become a key decision-maker as our vision scales. If you're driven by impact and looking for a place where your expertise will grow alongside the product, this is an exceptional opportunity to step in early and help define our success.
About the role :
Optical Alignment and Characterization: Perform high-precision optical alignment of imaging and illumination subsystems. Conduct optical performance characterization (MTF, SNR, uniformity, resolution, illumination stability, etc.) and validate optical quality against specifications.
Optical Quality Control Test Benches: Design, prototype, and implement optical quality-control test benches used for machine commissioning and production. Define test protocols, measurement workflows, acceptance criteria, and calibration sequences.
Software Tools for Optical Metrics: Develop internal software tools for automated measurement, analysis, and traceability of optical metrics. Integrate these tools into deployment and qualification workflows.
Machine Deployment and Commissioning: Participate in system setup, optical bring-up, calibration, and performance verification prior to field deployment. Support planning and execution of customer-site rollouts.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide expert support on opto-mechanical and opto-electronic issues, including diagnostics, root-cause analysis, and preventive maintenance. Assist field teams in resolving complex optical deviations.
R&D Collaboration and Optical Module Industrialization: Work with R&D teams to refine calibration procedures, improve system reliability, and contribute to the industrialization of the optical module (design-for-test, design-for-manufacturing).
Documentation and Continuous Improvement: Create and maintain technical documentation for optical procedures and test protocols. Track optical and deployment KPIs, identify trends, and propose process and workflow optimizations.
